volunteer faq's
What do I get for volunteering at the festival?
- You will receive a weekend pass to the festival to the ticketed value of $130. This ticket is then exchanged for an armband to ensure you are able to gain entry to the festival to complete your shift. These are non transferable.
- You will have access to free drinking water, tea or coffee.
- You will receive an exclusive volunteer festival t-shirt.
- You will have the opportunity to experience being a part of an Internationally recognised event.
How long do I have to volunteer for during the festival?
You are required to do a minimum 10 hour shift in order to ensure you receive the above benefits. Many volunteers exceed this time frame and this is greatly appreciated. You can request shift times and duties and the volunteer coordinator will organise the roster with your requests in mind.
Is there any pre-festival or post-festival volunteer work?
Yes, there are some positions available for both pre & post-festival work. Generally this is in construction of the site, loading & heavy lifting. If you are chosen to work in these areas you will be instructed by your supervisor as to the times you are required.
Is there accommodation provided for volunteers?
No. All volunteers are required to organise their own accommodation for the weekend. Details for accommodation for the weekend can be found on this web site.
Is there parking available for the volunteers?
No. Volunteers are required to get to the festival and find their own parking. There is parking available near the festival. Parking can be difficult so be prepared & leave early.
Can I get discounted tickets for my friends & family?
No there are no discounted tickets available.
How many volunteers are required?
Approximately 300 volunteers are required during the weekend within the various sections of the festival.
Must I attend the volunteer pre -festival meeting?
Yes. A volunteers meeting is held on Thursday November 8th 2007 at 6pm. This is a compulsory meeting which will cover all Occupational Health and Safety requirements, rosters & additional information that you require to ensure you get the most out of being a volunteer at the festival. It's also a great way to meet the coordinators/committee members & each other & become part of the Volunteer family.
Can I choose my shifts so I can work with my friends?
You can give us preferences but make sure the details are clear and include the name of the person you would like to be on roster with so we can pair you together. We will try to accommodate you however we can not guarantee that all requests will be met.
What if I am unable to make a shift due to illness or car problems etc?
You will be given a contact number for the volunteer coordinator for use if you are late, ill or unable to make your shift. Contact can also be made via the blues office.
Is there any paid work available at the festival?
There are no paid positions available through the volunteer system.
