STELLAR MOON
Interview by Bob Gordon
What’s the best thing about playing festivals?
The best thing about playing festivals is seeing old friends – musicians and music lovers – and making new ones. And the good spread of awesome music of course!
Do you have a Blues at Bridgetown experience that you’d like to share, either performing or as an audience member?
I love Bridgetown so much. Our first ever set at the festival was to a jam-packed Karma Llama room with a line out the door and people in the crowd came up and gave me flowers which was so sweet.
Where do you feel you fit in musically along the blues and roots scale?
Well, we are very rootsy. Bit of blues and a lot of soul.
What have been the highlights of your music career thus far?
Opening for Christine Anu earlier this year was incredible. Opening for The Waifs and Daryl Braithwaite were both awesome!
This year I got to play mainstage at Nannup Music Festival and then the following month being helicoptered onto the True North to play in the remote Kimberley with the most spectacular natural backdrop – ocean, waterfalls, tall cliffs, gorges… I feel pretty grateful!
What have you been mainly focusing on in 2026 and how is it coming along?
My style of ‘focus’ is always a few tabs open at once. I’ve been working on album #2 among the other tabs and it should be ready in early 2027.
What are your plans and hopes for 2027?
In 2027 I’d really love to tour my new album and also branch out and play some shows interstate. Just putting it out there Universe!
What can folks expect from your performances at Blues at Bridgetown?
I’m excited already! You can expect a big sound from the big band. Get ready to shake it all off, stir it all up and be carried on a music journey through emotional valleys to be uplifted to strong, empowered mountain peaks. Let’s have some fun!
Also, I’m running a workshop on Saturday with Jaime Jackett where we will learn one of my songs to sing along with on the Sunday slot at the Festival Club. That set will be a little bit different to the Friday and Saturday.
