THE FLOORS

Interview with Luke Dux (vocals/guitar) by Bob Gordon

What’s the best thing about playing festivals?
Playing music outside is like pissing under the stars, it feels good. Unless you’re playing on an inside stage, then use a toilet.

Do you have a Blues at Bridgetown experience that you’d like to share, either performing or as an audience member?
I enjoyed hearing Ian Moss play with 200 guitar amps (2017).

Where do you feel you fit in musically along the blues and roots scale?
We’re interested in the drone and the power of the blues, a shared cathartic release through the chaos of a primal band.

What have been the highlights of your music career thus far?
Taking our music across Australia and Europe. It still blows our minds that people outside of our jam room might draw some kind of pleasure from our racket.

What have you been mainly focussing on in 2024 and how is it coming along?
We finished making our fourth studio record.

What are your plans and hopes for 2025?
The three of us in a stinking van navigating our way to the next show.

What can folks expect from your performances at Blues at Bridgetown?
Live sound in real time, mostly in time and sometimes in tune.
